California metros snagged the top spots for cities with the highest monthly average starting salaries in 2018, with San Jose, Calif., ranking No. 1, according to a CNBC report.

To determine the cities with the highest monthly average starting salaries, CNBC compiled data from WalletHub's 2018 Best Places to Find a Job. WalletHub compared over 180 U.S. cities across 26 indicators of job market strength.

Here are the 13 cities that made the list ranked according to monthly average starting salary, which was adjusted for cost of living.

No. 1 — San Jose, Calif.: $5,441

No. 2 (tie) — San Francisco: $4,680

No. 2 (tie) — Oakland, Calif.: $4,680

No. 2 (tie) — Fremont, Calif.: $4,680

No. 5 — Washington, D.C.: $4,637

No. 6 — Bridgeport, Conn.: $4,082

No. 7 (tie) — Tacoma, Wash.: $4,067

No. 7 (tie) — Seattle: $4,067

No. 9 — Boston: $3,863

No. 10 (tie) — Yonkers, N.Y.: $3,477
