Healthcare dominates highest-paying jobs in 2018 list

Twelve of the 15 best-paying jobs in 2018 are in healthcare, according to a U.S. News & World Report analysis.

To compile a list of the highest-paying occupations in 2018, U.S. News analyzed jobs with the most projected openings between 2016 and 2026 based on data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and then examined each job’s salary. The list does not include executive-level positions.

Here are the 12 healthcare jobs that made the list, ranked according to median salary:

  1. Anesthesiologist: $208,000
  2. Surgeon: $208,000
  3. OB-GYN: $208,000
  4. Oral and maxillofacial surgeon: $208,000
  5. Orthodontist: $208,000
  6. Physician: $196,380
  7. Psychiatrist: $194,740
  8. Pediatrician: $168,990
  9. Dentist: $153,900
  10. Prosthodontist: $126,050
  11. Nurse anesthetist: $160,270
  12. Podiatrist: $124,830
