NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Receives Preliminary Approval for $1B Project

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital has received preliminary approval for $1 billion in construction projects from the state health planning committee, according to a Crain’s New York Business report.

The hospital plans to build an $895.5 million ambulatory care center in New York. It will offer surgery, primary care and infusion therapy services.

The hospital is planning a $114 million renovation of 10 existing inpatient units at its building on the Columbia University campus. The hospital’s emergency department at Columbia will also be renovated and expanded for $74 million.

The state health planning committee also gave preliminary approval for NewYork-Presbyterian’s proposed takeover of New York Downtown Hospital.

The state’s Public Health and Health Planning Council will vote on the hospital’s proposed projects on April 11, according to the report.
