Children’s Hospital in Boston Reports 38% Increase in Operating Income Last Year

Buoyed by an increase in patient-related revenue, Children’s Hospital in Boston reported a 38 percent increase in operating income for fiscal 2009, according to a report by the Boston Business Journal.

The hospital recorded $1.03 billion in net patient-service revenue in the year ended Sept. 30, 2009, up 11 percent over fiscal 2008, and its total revenue stood at $1.29 billion, up 10 percent from the year before.

Children’s also saw its investment portfolio rise 4.3 percent to $557.6 million.
