In February, the health system announced plans to expand its main campus in phases from 2014 to 2022. It also purchased Doctors Hospital before it opened, some adjacent facilities and a site slated for a new clinic. Altru Health System President Casey Ryan said the purchase of the hospital and other facilities has forced a two-year delay of the main campus expansion and made the site for a clinic unnecessary, according to the report. Thus, the health system is delaying construction on the main campus until 2016 and is selling the land initially designated for a clinic.

Altru Health System is continuing plans for Doctors Hospital and the adjacent facilities it purchased. The Doctors Hospital building will offer family medicine, procedures requiring one- or two-day stays and a walk-in clinic. Another facility will include a sleep lab; a center for physical, occupational and speech therapy; a renal dialysis unit; same-day surgery; and a laboratory. A separate building will house an imaging center.
