Berkshire’s offer came after SoftBank invested in Uber, though the parties could not agree on the terms of the offer.

“I don’t think we necessarily fit in with the typical Warren Buffett investment. Maybe we can be a different kind of an investment, a portfolio diversification play for him,” Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi told CNBC.

Mr. Buffett expressed admiration for Mr. Khosrowshahi even though the two could not agree on terms for an investment.

“I’m a great admirer of Dara,” Mr. Buffett said, according to CNBC. “Some of the reported details are not correct, but it’s true that Berkshire had discussions with Uber.”
