Easton-based University of Maryland Shore Regional Health, a member of University of Maryland Medical System in Baltimore, has received a $25 million gift toward construction of its new UM Shore Regional Medical Center in Easton.

The gift, provided by an anonymous donor, is the largest UM SRH donation ever received. It will help kick off UM SRH’s larger $100 million comprehensive fundraising effort for the new hospital, according to a July 1 news release.

The health system broke ground on the $540 million replacement hospital in October 2024.

“At a time when rural hospitals are in crisis, with over 200 closing their doors in the past two decades and one-third of the rural hospitals in the country at risk of closing, we aren’t just transforming health care, we are expanding and building a better state of care for the region’s future,” UM SRH President Ken Kozel said in the release.
