Trinity Health System, part of Chicago-based CommonSpirit, has opened a hospital in St. Clairsville, Ohio, to expand emergency and inpatient services for residents in the Ohio Valley region.
The St. Clairsville Neighborhood Hospital officially opened its doors Aug. 18. The two-story, 20,000-square-foot facility features 10 emergency treatment rooms — including two equipped for trauma care — and three fast-track rooms for lower-acuity needs. The hospital also includes six inpatient rooms, one intensive care-capable room and two operating rooms.
Support services include advanced imaging, laboratory testing, and emergency department rooms designed to accommodate behavioral health and bariatric patients. A helicopter landing zone and telehealth robotics further enhance the hospital’s emergency response and specialist access capabilities.
“The need for this hospital location has become even more urgent following the closure of East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry,” Laurie Labishak, market director, Trinity Health System, said in a news release. “While nearby hospitals in Wheeling and Barnesville continue to provide vital support, the addition of this new facility will expand capacity and provide local residents with another trusted place to turn in times of need.”
East Ohio Regional Hospital, a 140-bed acute care facility, shuttered in March following a series of service cuts, facility closures and layoffs.
