St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange, Texas, which closed in October 2023 due to financial challenges, will reopen under a new name and owner.
Oxford, Miss.-based Progressive Health Group acquired the hospital and plans to reopen it as Progressive Health of Fayette, according to a Sept. 23 PHG news release shared with Becker’s.
The hospital transitioned to PHG ownership on Aug. 24. PHG said it plans to reintroduce essential services at the facility, beginning with emergency care and expanding to other specialties and programs.
Reopening timelines and recruitment plans will be announced in the coming weeks, the release said.
The hospital management group previously expressed interest in taking over the hospital soon after its closure, but those plans did not initially go through. The specifics of the transaction are not being made public at this time, a hospital spokesperson said in a statement shared with Becker’s.
“While we aren’t able to disclose financial details of the transaction, we’re excited about the opportunities this acquisition creates for strengthening healthcare access in the community,” the spokesperson said. “Regarding the structure, what we can share is that the acquisition was finalized in a way that best supports the hospital’s long-term sustainability and the community it serves.”
