Much of the money will go to doubling the size of the hospital’s emergency department and expanding its intensive care unit through renovations and expansions that will occur over the next five years.
The hospital has seen rising demand for its emergency services, driven in part by the closings of several nearby hospitals, the story reported.
Scripps Health indicated it will borrow most of the money but was able to raise about 25 percent of it through donations.
