NYC Health + Hospitals announces systemwide expansion in underserved communities

NYC Health + Hospitals will add two facilities and renovate five others in a systemwide primary and specialty care expansion and renovation, in an effort to enhance access to healthcare in underserved communities throughout New York.

All together, NYC Health + Hospitals is investing $40 million into the healthcare centers, which are expected to serve 48,000 residents per year. The health system will renovate five existing facilities located throughout the boroughs of Brooklyn, the Bronx and Queens.  In addition, two new sites will open this winter in Brooklyn and Staten Island, New York City.

The medical services offered at each sight will differ; however, all seven sites will have primary care and behavioral health care.

"These seven sites will better connect tens of thousands of New Yorkers to primary and specialty care, promoting wellness and care management, as well as smoother transitions to other care when needed — goals that are important to the long-term transformation of our health system," said Stanley Brezenoff, interim president and CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals.
