Two new acute care hospitals are slated to open in mid-April, expanding healthcare services in Wisconsin and the nation’s capital.
Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health will open April 15 in Washington, D.C. The hospital is the result of a public-private partnership between the local government; King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services; and George Washington University.
The $434 million, 406,000-square-foot facility is the first full-service hospital built in Washington, D.C., in 25 years. It will include 136 beds, a 54-bay emergency department, trauma care, maternal services with a Level II neonatal intensive care unit and an ambulatory pavilion.
Washington, D.C.-based Children’s National Hospital will operate the hospital’s 24-bay pediatric ED and NICU, according to an April 10 news release.
Meanwhile, Neenah, Wis.-based ThedaCare will open its ninth hospital, ThedaCare Medical Center–Fond du Lac, on April 16. The $35 million, 25,000-square-foot facility will feature a 10-bed inpatient unit and an eight-bed emergency department. It will also offer imaging and some specialty care services, including cardiology.
The opening comes as the system continues construction on its 10th hospital, ThedaCare Medical Center–Oshkosh (Wis.), which is slated to open later this year.
