Lutheran Health Network plans $500M investment

Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Lutheran Health Network, a subsidiary of Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems, will pursue a multiyear $500 million capital investment plan for nearly all of its facilities, according to a wane.com report.

Here are three things to know.

1. Facility upgrades include the following:

  • Full renovation of LutheranHospital in Fort Wayne
  • Renovation of LutheranHospital’s emergency department, including adding an eight-bed transition unit
  • Development of LHN’s outpatient cardiovascular center
  • Combination of two endoscopy suites into one center
  • Creation of multiple outpatient centers for urgent and walk-in care, diagnostic imaging, laboratory, family medicine and therapies, among other services

 

2. Brian Bauer, CEO of LHN, told wane.com design work is set to begin “immediately” and anticipates “to start and complete some of the construction this year.” Work on the ED is slated to begin May 15.

3. Mr. Bauer added LHN “will announce additional capital projects across the network as details are finalized with a goal of completing the entire half-billion dollar investment over five to six years.”
