Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Health broke ground Oct. 26 on its $1.2 billion Intermountain Health Felicia and Ben Horowitz Children’s Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada’s first standalone children’s hospital.

The roughly 828,600-square-foot hospital, which is expected to open in 2030, will sit on a 33-acre campus and feature an initial 180-bed inpatient tower that can expand to 228 beds, according to a news release from the health system.

Intermountain Health Felicia and Ben Horowitz Children’s Hospital will feature neonatal care, pediatric and cardiac intensive care, emergency and trauma care, orthopedics, cancer and bone marrow transplant services, behavioral health and advanced medical and surgical care for children.

The hospital has received significant donations.

In late October, Intermountain received a $150 million philanthropic commitment from venture capitalist Ben Horowitz and his wife, Felicia Horowitz, for the hospital, which will be named after them in recognition of the gift.

The Intermountain Healthcare Foundation also received a $50 million commitment from Larry and Heidi Canarelli in early October to help develop the hospital. Intermountain launched a fundraising campaign in October 2025 for the facility.
