Healthcare Realty Trust to Purchase 15 Hospital Buildings in North Carolina

Nashville-based Healthcare Realty Trust has announced that it will purchase 15 facilities for $162 million from Carolinas HealthCare System, according to a Seeking Alpha transcript of the REIT’s third-quarter earnings calls.

The building portfolio will total close to 760,000 sq. ft.

Carolinas HealthCare System, which is one of the largest public healthcare systems in the country, owns 23 hospitals and manages approximately 5,000 patient beds in the metropolitan Charlotte area. The hospitals have an average occupancy of 90 percent.

Healthcare Realty Trust expects the portfolio to yield approximately 8 percent after the stabilization of a new owned campus MOB.
