Marriottsville, Md.-based Bon Secours broke ground Oct. 7 on a $370 million expansion at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, Va., according to a news release shared with Becker’s.
Five notes:
1. The expansion includes the addition of an eight-story, 200,000-square-foot critical care tower.
2. Once the tower is completed in 2028, the hospital plans to begin renovations of approximately 90,000 square feet of existing space.
3. The expansion project will double the hospital’s overall critical care capacity, expand the NICU from a 21-bed bay to 31 private bassinets, relocate the hospital helipad to the rooftop, incorporate inpatient smart technology and renovate operating rooms, including a specialized cardiac surgery suite.
4. The expansion will also create 55 new patient parking spaces and add approximately 357 new hospital jobs.
5. Hospital renovation work is slated to continue through 2029.
