Company officials told the Star Tribune they were “encouraged” by the numbers. Whether the tally includes employees at Allina Health, which made the health plan available to its 29,000 employees, was not disclosed.

Membership was roughly split 50-50 between coverage through employer groups and Medicare Advantage plans.

The joint venture, which launched in 2018, posted an operating loss of $3.3 million on $16.7 million during the first quarter, according to the Star Tribune.
