Construction for the replacement facility, dubbed the North Alabama Medical Center, began two years ago and will wrap up ahead of schedule. It will also be located in Florence.
Patients will be transferred from ECMH to the new facility upon its completion.
While plans on what will happen to ECMH after its vacated have yet to be announced, Florence city leaders say the aged facility will likely be torn down.
