The new company will operate under the name ARxIUM and have headquarters in Winnepeg, Manitoba, and Buffalo Grove, Ill. AmerisourceBergen, a Fortune 500 pharmaceutical services company, provides workflow and scheduling software that will be combined with IH Systems’ automated IV compounding system, according to a news release.

AmerisourceBergen, created by a merger between Amerisource Health Corporation and Bergen Brunswig Corporation in 2001, employs approximately 13,000 people and has 26 U.S. distribution centers, four U.S. specialty distribution centers and two Canadian distribution centers.

“The integration of these two companies will create something that is truly greater than the sum of its parts,” said owner Ed Van Humbeck, whose family acquired a controlling interest in IH Systems in spring 2014. “We will provide a broad range of tools for pharmacies to vastly improve patient safety, operating cost and workflow efficiency.”
