Former CEO of Miami Beach Community Health Center Sentenced for Embezzlement

Kathryn Abbate, former CEO of Miami Beach (Fla.) Community Health Center, has been sentenced to 3.5 years in prison for embezzling more than $6 million from the hospital.

Between 2007 and 2012, Ms. Abbate collected more than $3 million in non-accrued vacation pay and other undue compensation, and another $3 million in payments for “community development.”

 

Ms. Abbate’s 42 months in prison will be followed by three years of supervised release.
