Austin, Texas-based St. David’s Medical Center has appointed Laura Wiess CFO, effective Aug. 10.
Ms. Wiess brings more than 25 years of experience with St. David’s HealthCare to the role. She most recently served as CFO of St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, where she led several major capital initiatives, including the opening of a freestanding emergency department in Leander and expansions of stroke, cardiovascular and electrophysiology services.
She also oversaw growth in the system’s medical-surgical, telemetry, intermediate care and operating room capacity.
“For more than two decades, Laura’s financial stewardship and strategic planning have ensured hospitals throughout St. David’s HealthCare have provided high-quality care, while investing back into the Central Texas community,” Todd Steward, CEO of St. David’s Medical Center, said in a news release. “Laura’s commitment to fiscal integrity and deep familiarity with St. David’s Medical Center will strengthen our leadership team which, ultimately, benefits the patients we serve.”
Ms. Wiess has also served as CFO for Heart Hospital of Austin and St. David’s Georgetown Hospital, and held leadership roles at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center. She previously spent eight years as controller at St. David’s Medical Center.
She holds a master’s degree in professional accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.
