Intermountain Health, a 33-hospital health system based in Salt Lake City, has appointed a new president for Intermountain Children’s Health and expanded the role of a hospital president.

Mandy Richards, DNP, RN, was appointed president of Children’s Health, bringing years of experience at the organization, according to an Aug. 4 health system news release.

Dr. Richards joined Intermountain Health in 2023 and is chief nursing executive for the system. Before that, she served as executive vice president and chief nursing officer at Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare and for Minneapolis-based Allina Health.

Intermountain Health also shared that Dustin Lipson, president of Primary Children’s Hospital’s Salt Lake Campus, will serve in an expanded role as children’s market president for the Canyons Region.

In his expanded role, Mr. Lipson will oversee Primary Children’s Hospital’s Salt Lake Campus, Larry H. and Gail Miller Family Campus in Lehi, Utah, and Behavioral Health Center-Taylorsville (Utah) Campus, which will open in September, as well as specialized ambulatory pediatric care in southwestern Idaho and central Utah, according to the release.

Both leaders will stay in their current roles. Katy Welkie, BSN, who is retiring as CEO of Primary Children’s Hospital and vice president of Children’s Health, will stay in her role through Aug. 25.
