Baystate Health taps COO

Scott Lichtenberger, MD, has been named COO of Springfield, Mass.-based Baystate Health. He stepped into the role July 14.

In his new role, Dr. Lichtenberger will oversee hospital operations, quality, patient safety, nursing leadership and operational performance, according to a July 17 Baystate news release shared with Becker’s.

He brings more than 20 years of healthcare experience to the role, most recently serving as a principal in strategy consulting firm EY-Parthenon’s healthcare practice. He also previously served as chief transformation officer at Centennial, Colo.-based Centura Health.

Dr. Lichtenberger succeeds Sam Skura, a health system spokesperson confirmed to Becker’s. Mr. Skura has served as executive vice president and COO at Weymouth, Mass.-based South Shore Health since April, according to his LinkedIn profile.
