Jake O’Shea, MD, has long been interested in the intersection of healthcare and technology, segueing into his role as vice president and chief health information officer at Nashville-based HCA Healthcare.

At HCA, Dr. O’Shea is the executive sponsor for the rollout of Meditech’s Expanse EHR across the 190-hospital system. He started his career as an emergency physician before joining HCA more than 10 years ago as a regional chief medical information officer and launching Meditech functionalities such as physician documentation and computerized provider order entry at 15 hospitals.

“Dr. O’Shea is a fantastic leader and healthcare innovator,” said Mike Schlosser, MD, senior vice president and chief transformation officer of HCA Healthcare, in an April 9 news release. “He has built this major infrastructure around our EHR and informatics agenda, ensuring our work will reach its full potential to support our hospitals, care teams and patients.”
