In 2010, Kewanee Hospital’s board of trustees began discussing the hospital’s future in light of reform. “After careful analysis and deliberation, we concluded that affiliation with a larger partner was the best mechanism to provide long-term care viability, collaboration and enhancement of services,” said Lynn Fulton, CEO of Kewanee Hospital. After two years, the hospital decided to pursue an affiliation with OSF HealthCare.

The partnership will help Kewanee Hospital ensure local access to quality healthcare for its patient community, grow and offer a wider variety of specialty services and improve its physician, nurse and medical professional recruiting efforts, according to the release.

Next, the organizations will spend time in due diligence. A final decision on the affiliation is expected later next year, according to the release.
