Banner names Seattle physician-scientist to C-suite role

Corey Casper, MD, was appointed chief research officer for Phoenix-based Banner Health, effective Jan. 27.

He joins Banner after more than two decades as a physician-scientist in Seattle, according to a Feb. 3 news release from the system.

During that time, he held various roles, including founding CEO of the Access to Advanced Health Institute, a nonprofit research institute, and founding director of the Global Oncology program at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center in Seattle.

Dr. Casper assumes his new role as Eric Reiman, MD, continues to lead the Banner Alzheimer’s Institute as its CEO, overseeing initiatives at the Alzheimer’s institutes in Phoenix and Tucson, Ariz., as well as Banner Sun Health Research Institute in Sun City, Ariz.

Banner operates 33 hospitals, along with an academic medicine division, Banner-University Medicine, and Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center.
