Children’s Hospital LA appoints chief transformation, digital officer

Omkar Kulkarni has been promoted to vice president and chief transformation and digital officer at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, which also established a new Office of Transformation, according to a Jan. 30 news release shared with Becker’s.

Mr. Kulkarni was previously the hospital’s chief innovation officer and chief digital transformation officer, having joined CHLA in 2018 from Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai. At CHLA, he helped oversee the enterprisewide telehealth rollout in 2020 and launch several digital initiatives.

In his new role, he will lead digital and operational transformation aiming to improve efficiency, patient access, employee engagement and the patient-family experience.

The new transformation office will combine several CHLA teams: digital transformation, virtual care, operational transformation, KidsX, the CHLA Innovation Studio, and the FDA-funded Consortium for Technology & Innovation in Pediatrics. Mr. Kulkarni already headed KidsX, an accelerator that has brought together more than 30 children’s hospitals to develop 52 pediatric digital health startups.
