Carol Barsky, MD. Senior Vice President and Chief Quality Officer of Hackensack (N.J.) Meridian Health. Prior to joining Hackensack Meridian Health in July 2015, Dr. Barsky served as the medical director for clinical performance and associate chief of patient safety and quality for Yale-New Haven (Conn.) Hospital. She was also the vice chair and medical director of Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City where she coordinated the hospital’s response to 9/11 and led the implementation of the city’s first fully electronic medical record. Under Dr. Barsky’s leadership, Hackensack University Medical Center launched the “Wash In – Wash Out” hospitalwide hand-washing initiative, which increased staff hand hygiene compliance to 90 percent in 2016.
