Michael Israel. President and CEO of Westchester Medical Center Health Network (Valhalla, N.Y.). Prior to taking the reins of WMCHealth in August 2005, Mr. Israel served in multiple healthcare leadership positions, including CEO of Duke University Hospital in Durham, N.C., and COO of New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Long Island Jewish Health System. As the head of WMCHealth, Mr. Israel oversees a 1,700-bed healthcare system with 10 hospitals across eight campuses that employ more than 12,000 people, including nearly 3,000 attending physicians. Under Mr. Israel’s leadership, WMCHealth reached a 12-year academic affiliation agreement with Valhalla-based New York Medical College, which was finalized in May.
