HSHS ACO (Springfield, Ill.). HSHS ACO became a Medicare Shared Savings Program ACO in 2016. The ACO is a collaboration between Springfield-based Hospital Sisters Health System’s seven Illinois hospitals and providers from Springfield-based Physician Clinical Integration Network, a physician-led organization formed in 2011. David Carlson, DO, is HSHS’ physician in chief and serves as the ACO’s executive director.
