University Hospitals. (Cleveland). University Hospitals’ Neurological Institute offers 14 centers of excellence with more than 100 trained specialists covering neurosurgery, neurology, neuro-oncology and neuroradiology, among other related specialties. The department also has a spine center where surgeons focus on minimally invasive surgical interventions. University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center is one of select centers in the U.S. to offer proton therapy for spinal tumors, which minimizes the damage of surrounding tissue. The hospital also supports a Joint Commission-certified comprehensive stroke center with 24/7 availability. U.S. News & World Report ranked University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center among the top 50 hospitals in the nation for neurology and neurosurgery in 2017-18.
