Russell Medical Center (Alexander City, Ala.). Russell Medical Center opened in 1923 and has undergone many expansions and improvements since, including adding a da Vinci robotic system in 2011 and forming a relationship with UAB Health System in Birmingham, Ala., in 2012. UAB Medicine-The Cancer Center at RMC is a joint venture designed to enhance oncology services in the area. iVantage named RMC as a Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital on its 2016 list.
