7 latest FDA approvals

Here are the seven latest medical devices or drugs approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

  1. Tecnis Symfony Introcular Lenses are intended for the treatment of cataracts.

  2. Hydromorphone HCI tablets are a new opioid treatment for patients with moderate to severe acute pain.

  3. Relistor, a treatment for opioid-induced constipation, is now available in tablet form.

  4. UltraShape Power is a new non-invasive fat destruction device.  

  5. Belviq XR tablets are intended to help patients achieve and maintain weight loss when paired with a healthy diet and physical activity.

  6. Eight different generic versions of the cholesterol-lowering drug rosuvastatin will enter the market to compete with London-based AstraZeneca's brand name drug Crestor.

  7. Nilutamide tablets treat metastatic prostate cancer when used in combination with surgical castration.
