UltraShape Power — developed by Wayland, Mass.-based Syneron Candela — harnesses ultrasound energy to target and destroy fat.

The device emits ultrasound energy into the abdomen in a pulsing mechanism, targeting pockets of fat without harming surrounding blood vessels, nerves and muscles.

The treatment causes little to no pain for patients and takes about 30 minutes to complete.

Syneron Candela already launched UltraShape Power outside of the U.S. and expects the device to reach the U.S. market within a few months.
