How the 'Big 5' health insurers fared in Q2

The five largest health insurers in the nation have released their financial results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2015.

1. Aetna's Q2 net income up 33% in Q2
Aetna reported net income of $731.8 million on revenue of $15.2 billion for the second quarter of FY 2015, up from net income of $548.8 million on $14.5 billion in revenue for the comparable period of last year.

2. Anthem's profit rises 17.5%, revenue beats expectations: 5 key points
Anthem reported net income of $859.1 million on revenue of $20 billion for the second quarter of FY 2015. The health insurer reported net income of $731.1 million on $18.5 billion in revenue in the comparable period of last year.

3. Cigna revenue climbs to $9.5B as membership grows
Cigna reported net income of $588 million on revenue of $9.5 billion for the second quarter of FY 2015. The health insurer reported net income of $573 million on $8.7 billion in revenue in the second quarter of last year.

4. Humana revenue grows to $13.7B in Q2 as Aetna merger looms
Humana reported net income of $431 million on $13.7 billion in revenue for the second quarter of FY 2015, up from net income of $344 million on $12.2 billion in revenue for the same period of 2014.

5. UnitedHealth profits rising; Optum revenues up — 5 key points
UnitedHealth Group reported net income of $1.6 billion on revenue of $36.3 billion for the second quarter of FY 2015. The health insurer reported net income of $1.4 billion on revenue of $32.6 billion in the same period of last year.
