The following healthcare mergers, acquisitions and general partnerships took place or were announced in the past week.
1. CHS acquires majority stake in Arkansas hospital
Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems acquired an 80 percent ownership interest in Physicians' Specialty Hospital in Fayetteville, Ark.
2. Alpena Regional joins MidMichigan Health
Alpena (Mich.) Regional Medical Center joined Midland-based MidMichigan Health as the fifth hospital in the system.
3. Adventist Health expands Florida footprint
Bert Fish Medical Center in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., joined the East Florida Region of Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based Adventist Health System.
4. WellStar pays $575M for 5 Tenet hospitals
Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare sold its five Atlanta-area hospitals and 26 physician clinics to Marietta, Ga.-based WellStar Health System for $575 million in cash.
5. HCA, Lahey advance bids for New Hampshire hospital
Elliot Health System, a single-hospital system in Manchester, N.H., put out a request for acquisition proposals and Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America and Burlington, Mass.-based Lahey Health were chosen as bidding finalists.
6. Sanford Health purchases Sanford Tracy Medical Center
Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sanford Health bought Sanford Tracy Medical Center from the city of Tracy, Minn.
7. Hackettstown Regional joins Atlantic Health: 5 things to know
Morristown, N.J.-based Atlantic Health System completed its acquisition of Hackettstown (N.J.) Regional Medical Center.
8. Barnabas Health, Robert Wood Johnson complete merger: 6 things to know
Orange, N.J.-based Barnabas Health and Robert Wood Johnson Health System, which has flagship hospital campuses in New Brunswick, N.J., and Somerset, N.J., completed their planned merger, creating the largest health system in the state.
9. Capella inks private-public partnership with Arkansas hospital
Benton, Ark.-based Saline Memorial Hospital's board of directors voted to partner with Franklin, Tenn.-based Capella Healthcare.
10. Memorial OKs partnership with Novant Health: 5 things to know
Memorial Health in Savannah, Ga., approved a strategic partnership agreement with Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health.
11. HealthAlliance joins Westchester Medical Center Health Network: 8 things to know
Westchester Medical Center Health Network in Valhalla, N.Y., and Kingston, N.Y.-based HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley partnered to enhance and expand healthcare for the Hudson Valley region.
