Christus Santa Rosa Hospital-Medical Center implements dual leadership; selects president, administrator

San Antonio-based Christus Santa Rosa Hospital-Medical Center is adopting the dyad leadership model, which includes two leaders serving at the helm of the organization. The medical center named Ian Thompson, Jr., MD, president and Asha Rodriguez administrator.

Fellowship trained in urologic oncology, Dr. Thompson will also serve as the market oncology service line vice president in addition to his presidential role. He has previously served as chief of urology at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio and director of the Cancer Therapy and Research Center at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He has published more than 600 scientific papers and was nominated to the scientific advisors board of the National Cancer Institute in 2016.

Ms. Rodriguez most recently served as the assistant administrator for Christus Santa Rosa Hospital-Medical Center and Christus Santa Rosa Hospital-Westover Hills, also in San Antonio. Additionally, she has served as the interim president at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital-Medical Center since July 2016. Previously, she has held roles in patient advocacy, organization development and training as well as employee/labor relations with MedStar Washington (D.C.) Hospital Center.
