Lawrence + Memorial Hospital goes live on $30M Epic EHR

New London, Conn.-based Lawrence + Memorial Hospital went live on its Epic EHR Jan. 20, according to TheDay.com.

Lawrence + Memorial Hospital CIO Lisa Stump said the Epic installation is a key part of L+M's integration into Yale-New Haven (Conn.) Health System, which is already on Epic's system. L+M and its subsidiaries, including Westerly (R.I.) Hospital, joined the Yale-New Haven network last fall.

"This exemplifies the transfer that's happening here, with L+M, Westerly Hospital and the L+M Medical Group coming into the Yale-New Haven family," said Ms. Stump, according to the report. "This tends to be a unifying event. We consider this a really big investment in the community."

Ms. Stump said the total cost of the Epic implementation — including software, training and support services — was approximately $30 million.

Approximately 50,000 hours of staff training occurred prior to the go-live, according to L+M CNO and Vice President of Patient Care Services Lauren Williams.
