8 hospitals planning facility upgrades, expansions

The following hospitals announced or completed plans in the last week to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities.

1. UPMC opens $19M outpatient center
Pittsburg-based UPMC will open its $19 million, three-story outpatient center in Hampton, Pa., Thursday.

2. Texas Health Resources, U of Texas Southwestern Medical Center to build $270M healthcare campus
Arlington-based Texas Health Resources and Dallas-based University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center will begin construction on a $270 million healthcare campus in Frisco, Texas, this summer. 

3. Johnson Memorial Health breaks ground on $47M medical facility
Franklin, Ind.-based Johnson Memorial Health began construction Wednesday on a $47 million medical facility in Franklin.

4. St. Luke's University Health Network unveils $26M specialty pavilion
Bethlehem, Pa.-based St. Luke's University Health Network revealed a $26 million expansion of its Anderson campus in Easton, Pa., last week.

5. River's Edge Hospital and Clinic's commission approves $2.55M addition to expansion project
On Wednesday, Saint Peter, Minn.-based River's Edge Hospital and Clinic's commission members approved a $33.8 million expansion project for the facility.

6. SSM to break ground on $550M hospital Aug. 31
St. Louis-based SSM Health will begin construction on its new $550 million SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital and ambulatory care center Aug. 31.

7. University Hospital board approves $12M boost to ED expansion budget
Augusta, Ga.-based University Hospital's board of trustees voted Thursday to increase the budget for its emergency department expansion by $12 million, bringing the price tag for the project to $42 million.

8. Vail Valley Medical Center changes name, unveils new $68M wing
Vail (Colo.) Valley Medical Center unveiled its newly expanded $68 million hospital wing and changed its name to Vail Health.
