5 hospitals planning facility upgrades, expansions

The following hospitals announced or completed plans in the last week to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities.

1. Kaiser Permanente opens new medical office building in Los Angeles
Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente opened its new 100,000 square-foot medical office building in Los Angeles Sept. 7. 

2. Ohio city officials approve tax incentives for St. Luke's Hospital building project
Maumee, Ohio-based St. Luke's Hospital received a financial boost for two buildings slated for construction in nearby Perrysburg, Ohio.

3. Vermont hospital seeks approval for $21.7M expansion project
Rutland (Vt.) Regional Medical Center is asking the Rutland Board of Aldermen to approve a $21.7 million expansion project.  

4. ProHealth Care plans $6.9M expansion project
Waukesha, Wis.-based ProHealth Care is planning a $6.9 million expansion of its existing clinic in Mukwonago, Wis. 

5. Mayo proceeds with consolidation plan despite lieutenant governor's call to pause
Though Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Tina Smith (Democratic-Farmer-Laborer) called on the Mayo Clinic to "take a pause" on consolidation plans for its Albert Lea hospital, Mayo has stood its ground and plans to go ahead with the consolidation.
