14 hospitals planning facility upgrades, expansions

The following hospitals announced plans to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities in the last week.

1. Methodist Hospital unveils $90M expansion
Omaha, Neb.-based Methodist Hospital will open 15 new operating rooms next month. The new rooms are an integral part of a larger $90 million construction project, according to Live Well Nebraska.

2. McLaren Port Huron opens $25M cancer center
The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute opened at McLaren Port Huron (Mich.) July 18, less than one year after construction commenced. 

3. Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican breaks ground on Nevada hospital
Construction started on a new neighborhood hospital in Las Vegas, according to KTNV. 

4. Des Moines VA opens new emergency department
Des Moines-based VA Central Iowa Health Care System opened a $9.5 million emergency department July 14, according to The Des Moines Register.

5. $80M expansion at Mercy Health's Jewish Hospital unveiled July 21
A ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of Cincinnati-based Mercy Health's Jewish Hospital $80 million, ultra-modern expansion took place July 21, according to the Cincinnati Business Courier.

6. Adventist plans HQ expansion
Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based Adventist Health System unveiled plans to expand its national headquarters, including a new office building and multi-story parking garage, according to the Orlando Business Journal.

7. Advocate Medical Group proposes building medical facility on vacant lumber site
Chicago-based Advocate Medical Group is proposing building a new medical building over the vacant Beatty Lumber property in Oak Lawn, Ill., according to the Chicago Tribune.

8. Redlands Community Hospital plans surgery center
Redlands (Calif.) Community Hospital will build a surgery center to meet operating space demands and improve technology, Redlands Daily Facts reported.

9. North Kansas City Hospital plans medical office park
North Kansas City (Mo.) Hospital will build a medical office park with five buildings totaling 100,000 square feet, The Kansas City Star reported.

10. NYC Health + Hospitals wins approval to build affordable housing unit
NYC Health + Hospitals received approval from city council to build affordable housing at NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull in Brooklyn as part of its efforts to address housing instability.

11. ProMedica opens outpatient surgery center
Toledo, Ohio-based ProMedica is opening a new outpatient surgery center and medical office building July 18, The Blade reports.

12. Florida Hospital Flagler breaks ground on $4.5M cancer center
Florida Hospital Flager in Palm Coast broke ground on July 11 on a $4.5 million construction project that will expand its cancer center by 2,000 square feet, according to the Palm Coast Observer.

13. Cleveland Clinic plans to build Express Care facility downtown
Cleveland (Ohio) Clinic will open a small medical office and Express Care facility downtown, according to Cleveland.com. The Clinic signed a 10-year lease on the space.

14. After opening $45M cancer center, Munson Medical Center eyes phase 2 of expansion
Following the recent unveiling of Traverse City, Mich.-based Munson Medical Center's $45 million Cowell Family Cancer Center, hospital leaders appeared before Traverse City planning commissioners to present additional expansion plans, according to the Traverse Ticker.
