Medical group takes over ED staffing at Florida regional hospital

An outside medical group will now staff the emergency department of Lakeland (Fla.) Regional Medical Center, the medical group said Aug. 4.

Emergency Resources Group physicians will staff the city-run nonprofit hospital, and former Lakeland Regional physicians will join the staff of Emergency Resources Group, the medical group said in an Aug. 4 news release..

"The most important part of this partnership is the far-reaching impact it will have on patients," Matthew Rill, MD, CEO of Jacksonville, Fla.-based Emergency Resources Group, said in the news release. "ERG is proud to serve those directly in central Florida through LRMC and additional patients in the diverse communities in which ERG has established a footprint." 

Emergency Medical Group staff will work in  both the adult and pediatric emergency departments, according to the news release. Lakeland Regional saw 200,000 ED cases in 2021 and is the second-busiest ED in the country, according to the news release.
