Great Resignation trudges on as 4.4M Americans quit in February

Near-record quit rates continued into February 2022 as 4.4 million Americans left their jobs, reported The Washington Post March 29.

In February, 6.7 million people were hired and 678,000 positions were created according to The Post. In healthcare, 571,000 workers quit in February, up from 559,000 in January, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

"The labor market is still raring to go, with strong employer demand and increased worker mobility," Daniel Zhao, a senior economist at the job review site Glassdoor, told The Post. "We're still seeing very strong job openings and quits, as well as layoffs at record lows."

Hospital CEOs are also joining the list of workers quitting, with 12 hospital CEOs exiting their roles in January, double the number who stepped down from their positions in the same month a year earlier.
