Healthcare added 46,300 jobs in November, roughly in line with the 12-month average of 39,000, according to the latest jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

BLS released its November jobs report Dec. 16 — the agency’s second since the 43-day government shutdown from Oct. 1 to Nov. 12.

Due to the government shutdown, BLS said it would not publish an October jobs report; establishment data was rolled into the November release, and household data was not collected or retroactively recoverable.

Here are four more notes from the report:

1. Ambulatory healthcare services contributed the most to November’s healthcare job gains, adding 24,000 positions, followed by hospitals with 11,400.

2. Healthcare was among the few sectors to post job gains in November. Food services and drinking places, and social assistance, also added jobs.

3. November’s healthcare job gains slightly outpaced October, when the industry added 43,800 jobs.

4. The U.S. economy added 64,000 jobs overall in November, including gains in healthcare.
