10 roles employees are most, least likely to leave

Marketing and human resources professionals are among the most likely to be planning to leave their current roles, according to an April 17 LinkedIn News post.

The findings are based on a survey of 15,225 U.S. professionals conducted between Dec. 14 and March 21. Other roles within hospitals and health systems — such as legal — were among the least likely to report plans to exit.

Chief marketing officers and chief human resources officers at Fortune 500 companies experience higher turnover than most other C-suite roles, both at 9%, compared to the overall average of 7% for C-suite executives, according to a February report. 

Below are the five job functions with employees most and least likely to leave their current positions, per LinkedIn.

Most likely:

1. Product management

2. Marketing

3. Military and protective services

4. Human resources

5. Community and social services

Least likely:

1. Real estate

2. Business development

3. Consulting

4. Quality assurance

5. Legal
