Providence Hospital Lays Off Dozens

Providence Hospital in Washington, D.C., has laid off about 40 employees, according to a Washington Business Journal report.

The layoffs are part of the hospital’s cost-reduction effort, according to the report. The hospital is owed upwards of $2.5 million from the district’s Medicaid contractor, which collapsed in April, according to the report.
