Nationwide Children's Hospital pledges to add 1,700 jobs by 2024: 5 things to know

Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, has posted 620 to 650 job openings nearly every month in 2015, according to a Columbus Business First report.

Here are five things to know about the job openings.

1. The job openings have been for a myriad of positions, from entry level technician to nurse to research scientist.

2. Taking into account turnover and part-timers, the hires could translate to about 500 net new jobs, according to the report.

3. National Children's Hospital hires are primarily from Central Ohio. However, the hospital has conducted national searches for some specialties.

4. The hiring comes as the hospital pledges to add nearly 1,700 workers for a total of 12,000 employees by 2024 under a recent a jobs creation tax incentive package, according to Columbus Business First. The jobs are a result of $189 million in new construction and renovation underway, plus ongoing growth in clinical programs, at the hospital. As of last week, the hospital had about 10,700 workers, equal to about 8,300 full-time jobs.

5. Aside from the hiring pledge, Children's also is committing $5.75 million to community health initiatives under the tax incentive deal.
