Here are three things to know about the contract.
1. The three-year contract, which was negotiated by the California Nurses Association, covers 150 registered nurses at KHW.
2. According to the report, the contract includes the following:
- A 10 percent wage increase over three years
- A ban on mandatory overtime
- Guaranteed meal and rest breaks
- Training to reduce patient falls and nurse injuries
3. Both parties expressed pleasure in reaching an agreement.
Clarissa “Bing” Cruz, RN, said in a prepared statement that the contract “has strengthened our ability to provide the highest quality care.”
According to the report, Kindred’s California COO Brooke Saunders said, “We highly value our employees, our direct relationship with them, and the excellent care they provide to our patients. We respect our employees and are pleased we reached an agreement.”
