900 workers, MidHudson Regional reach contract agreement: 4 things to know

About 900 healthcare workers at Poughkeepsie, N.Y-based MidHudson Regional Hospital have a new contract, according to a Poughkeepsie Journal report.

Here are four things to know about the contract, as stated by the 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East union, which represents the workers.

1. The contract vote was conducted Sept. 11 and Sept. 14.

2. For most workers covered by the contract, it is the first time they have had a collective bargaining agreement.

3. The contract includes:

  • A legally binding grievance procedure
  • A guaranteed 3 percent increase retroactive to Jan. 1, 2015 as well as 3 percent increases on July 1 in 2016 and 2017
  • Health benefits that the union says are “improved and more affordable”

4. It became effective upon ratification and expires on Dec. 31, 2017.
