Eagleville Hospital workers vote to unionize: 3 things to know

Certified nursing assistants, mental health technicians and emergency medical technicians at Eagleville (Pa.) Hospital voted Friday to be represented by the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals, the union said, according to a report from The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Here are three things to know about the vote.

1. Of the 90 eligible to vote, 62 voted in favor and nine voted against joining PASNAP.

2. The vote comes the month after nurses at the hospital voted to be represented by PASNAP.

3. The vote also came after union members and state lawmakers rallied outside of the hospital to express disapproval of the alleged illegal practices the hospital has taken against its nurses while they were preparing to unionize.
